The fundamental purpose of an intruder alarm is to detect an intruder and notify others of that event.

The detectors come in various forms that, if selected correctly, will maximise security, minimise inconvenience, and also minimise false alarms.

Detectors range from door contacts that sense when a door is opened, vibration sensors that detect when a door window frame is attacked, break-glass sensors that detect the sound of breaking glass, and movement sensors that sense movement in a protected area. The passive infra red detector is the traditional movement sensor, however dual technology detectors are now commonly installed, some of which are immune to pets!

The decisions on the signalling to the monitoring station are often dictated by our customers insurers or by discussion with ourselves.

Recent changes to the Association of Chief Police Officers ACPO Policy and the introduction of DD243 have made a significant impact on customers who lose their police response after having too many false alarms.

The result is often that the alarm panel will need to be upgraded to allow confirmed alarm conditions, the entry keypad will have to be upgraded to allow access tokens to set and unset the panel, and additional detectors are required in order to ensure that the second detector activation confirms the first detector activation at the soonest reasonable point. For further advice please contact us, a table below shows the decrease of the number of false alarms permissible before the police response is lost.

Lee Security install the alarm panels that report to the external sounder, to the customer or neighbour via a speech dialler, to a central monitoring station via a digital communicator, via Redcare or indeed via Redcare GSM.

We also install Protect that triggers after an alarm condition. Within 20 seconds the Protect system emits a dense smokescreen that makes it impossible for a thief to find what they are looking for.
